STAR4002

8 to 15V output, 3 to 5.5V input Boost converter

Description

STAR4002 was designed in a TSMC 180nm process with 32V tolerant devices used for the output stage and outputs 8.3V-15.1V while achieving up to 90% efficiency

The IP integrates an NMOS power switch and a user configurable digital controller which is used to achieve closed loop feedback control of the output voltage. Stability is achieved by taking advantage of digital controller topolgies over traditional analog implementations. STAR4002 allows the user to configure a Soft Start algorithm which permits the user to trade-off startup time with startup currents. Additional features include an Overcurrent protection circuitry which would flag if the inductor current exceeds a user selectable current. In order to accommodate sensitive sensor measurements and applications, STAR4002 has a Quiet Mode which stops all boosting operations. The Quiet Mode can be turned on for a user specified period of time.
