Qualifications We’re Seeking
Education: Minimum of a Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on IC design.
Experience: 3+ years of design experience, including knowledge of CTLE, DFE, ADC, DAC, oscillators, PLLs, and more.
SerDes/High-Speed Expertise: If you’ve tackled a SerDes or high-speed circuit design (>10GS/s), that’s a significant asset.
Silicon Proven: Multiple silicon designs taped out with measured results? You’re our kind of engineer.
SOI or FinFet Know-How: Experience in SOI or FinFet process nodes? Even better.
Coding Skills: Comfortable with scripting, programming, and tools like Matlab/Simulink and Python.
Team Player: Excellent communication, presentation skills, and a strong team player.
Location: Strong preference for those eligible to work within Canada.

About the role
You'll be working on state-of-the-art TIA and Driver designs for silicon photonics applications operating at very high speeds. The blocks will be integrated with photonics elements to build a high-speed electro-optical system. You'll be responsible for active circuit development, design, and sign-off in a technical leadership role.
Qualifications We’re Seeking
Education: Minimum of a Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on IC design.
Experience: 3+ years of design experience, including knowledge of Optical front-end receivers and transmitters (TIAs, Drivers), CTLE, DFE, ADC, DAC, oscillators, PLLs, and more.
Photonics design: (PD, MRM, MZ elements) experience a significant asset
SerDes/High-Speed Expertise: If you’ve tackled a SerDes or high-speed circuit design (>10GS/s), that’s a significant asset.
Silicon Proven: Multiple silicon designs taped out with measured results? You’re our kind of engineer.
EIC / PIC: Co-design and co-simulation of photonics and electronics experience a big plus
SOI or FinFet Know-How: Experience in SOI or FinFet process nodes? Even better.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Cadence tool flow.

Hardware Design Engineer

We are seeking experienced Hardware Design Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team! We are looking for someone who is driven to succeed, and loves to solve problems.
As a Hardware design electrical engineer, your responsibilities include designing the layout of the unit to incorporate the appropriate components, making recommendations to improve existing designs, and overseeing the actual manufacturing of these products to ensure they meet industry and company standards.
The successful candidate will take full advantage of learning opportunities and be comfortable and confident engaging with both business-oriented clients and technical team members.

5+ years’ experience designing and constructing complex electrical products in positions of increasing responsibility
Knowledge of low noise analog signal routing and interfacing
Experience performing circuit simulation with SPICE
Strong familiarity with PCB design, fabrication, and bring up
PCB layout expertise
Familiarity with microcontroller architecture
Knowledge of embedded systems and instrumentation development
Experience with firmware development on ARM
Familiar with Python programming and Matlab simulations
Off the shelf DC/DC converter design and implementation
Comprehensive lab skills and hands-on with hardware
Experience maintaining signal integrity and EMC
Touch-up soldering skills will be required during testing
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced, and multi-disciplinary environment
Strong working knowledge of electrical PCB design software: Altium preferred
High degree of ethical standards and trustworthiness
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision

Senior Physical Design / Layout Engineer
Description:
We are looking for talented engineers to join our team and help grow our physical design team. StarIC is looking for someone to fill a senior role who will be responsible for developing and expanding our physical design team.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
Development and conceptualization of design layouts for key analog/mixed-signal designs
EMIR, DFM, Parasitic analysis and optimization
Interaction with analog/mixed-signal and digital designers to ensure optimal layout and floorplans
Project management, and task delegation
Script creation/management for flow optimization
Contribute to design flow
Management of on-site and off-site resources
Discussions and knowledge transfer with clients on layout/floorplan requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer engineering
3+ years of experience
Multiple tape-out experience in advanced technology nodes is a must
High-speed layout experience a significant asset
SOI / FinFet based experience a significant asset
Experience working in Cadence design flow
Strong communication skills and able to work well in a team environment
